Even MORE Words

Given that we were at the doctor’s again today as a follow-up to Ella’s latest ear infection,* we thought it appropriate to update the word list: it seems that every day there is a new word…or at least that she’s successfully mimicing what we say. So, in addition to all the ones mentioned previously, we can add: juice (sometimes she’ll even combine apple and juice together), outside, arm, brown, water (although she still usually uses agua), and most recently: elbow.

She’s also getting better and better with knowing body parts, and letting us know what songs she wants to hear at bedtime. Not only by shaking her head ‘no’ once we start singing, but by giving songs her own titles and asking for them. “Ashes” is her name for Ring Around the Rosey, and this weekend she started asking for the Rah song (Ants Go Marching), and then adding in her voice to the chorus of “Hurrah! Hurrah!” Perhaps best though is the “Esssss” song…known to most of us as the Alphabet Song. She happily listens to the song until we get to the letter S, where she’ll join in with a big, happy “ESS!” and follows it up with clapping at the end of the song.

* – Ella got a clean bill of health, but played coy when the doctor was asking if she knew where her nose was by pretending she didn’t understand the question. She then promptly showed us when we asked less than five minutes later as we waited for the elevator…
