Owen’s Four (Months)!

It’s hard to believe, but Owen yesterday hit day 122, better known as four months old! In that short amount of time, he’s doubled his birth weight, added a few inches in height…oh, and just about everything else. Until you go back to having an infant in the house, you forget just how absolutely everything [...]

Easter, Part 2

After a morning of church, Easter baskets, egg hunts and brunch at Talulla, we headed over to my parents for the afternoon. And can you believe it, the Easter Bunny came to their house too! Ella searched and searched for more eggs, while Owen hung out with Papa and Grandma: The Easter Bunny was definitely [...]

Easter, Part 1

On Friday, Ella dyed Easter eggs (under Owen’s watchful supervision), and on Saturday she further decorated the eggs with stickers, glitter glue and markers. Very carefully, she made sure to leave her Easter basket out Saturday night where the Easter Bunny could find it – and lo and behold, when she made it downstairs before [...]

Easter’s Almost Here

We picked Ella and Owen up from daycare a little early today since we had yet to do one very important pre-Easter activity: dye Easter eggs! Owen sat this one out, literally, by trying out his high chair for the first time. At times he was thrilled to be up and able to see everyone, [...]

Food, glorious food!

We’ve been feeling blessed by the great early season CSA-bounty lately, and especially happy that we’ve been able to utilize almost everything in some way or another. Perhaps this, our third year of splitting a share with my parents, really is the charm? The year started off with a bang last month with kale, spring [...]

Chatty Owen

Owen’s been talking up a storm in his own 3.5 month old way lately. We finally managed to capture a bit of it on video:

Like Father, Like Son

Apparently Owen had heard of his Dad’s misadventures with alligators last month, ’cause he decided that he needed to show off his own alligator-wrestling skills while down at his Aunt Maria’s last weekend. I think he definitely was more successful at it than I was!

Spring Training

Both Jeff and I finished grad school last year, and as a graduation gift, we got to go see the Red Sox during Spring Training (thanks, Mom & Dad!). We had a blast, and fit in as much baseball as possible – two games Friday, and one each Saturday and Sunday, seeing the Sox in [...]

Old traditions become new traditions

One near-ritual of Ella’s in the afternoon after getting home from school has been a short rest on the couch with Mom. The holidays have disrupted this a bit, but yesterday afternoon, Ella joined Sara and Owen on the couch for perhaps what will now become the ritual nap of three: Personally, I’m gonna go [...]

The Birthday Girl Turns 3

A couple short days after Owen’s arrival was a very important day in our household: Ella’s birthday! She had been looking forward to her birthday with great anticipation for months – ever since she learned all the names of the months, and that her birthday was in December. We’ve been practicing singing “Happy Birthday, Ella” [...]

Owen James Clarke

At 4:19 a.m. on December 27 – precisely 19 minutes after we pulled up at the hospital’s front doors* – Owen James Clarke made his first foray into the ex utero world. Relevant figures include: 10 fingers, 10 toes, 2 ears, 7 lbs. 7 oz., 1 nose, 20.5 inches, 1 set of great vocal cords, [...]

A Proud Parent Moment

It’s likely to embarrass Ella, if she ever sees this years down the road. No, no bathtub pictures, just parents who are perpetually amazed by the things their almost-three-year-old daughter can do and the ways in which her mind works. Just in the last week, she’s using “definitely,” “actually,” and “sometimes” appropriately in sentences (“Actually, [...]

Merry Christmas!

[It has been a rather busy week here, so we're a little slow with things we'd like to post about, but we will eventually catch up as sleep schedules allow.] This year, for the first time, Ella really seemed to “get” Christmas. No, not in the Luke 1:26 – 2:40 sort of way, or even [...]

Next stop Broadway?

Maybe the stage is a ways off still, but Ella does love singing. Later, she let me take the microphone while she did the backing vocals and dancing to the ABC song (who knew there was an ABC song dance?)

Quack, quack

On Sunday, all three of us took our new car down the street a few blocks to visit our local pond (street atlases call it “Kingstowne Lake,” but that’s being a bit generous). Ella did a great job both with her running and her listening (running from bench to bench, or to the gazebo), and [...]
